- Introduction
- KOTITI, as a global leading testing-inspection and research institution, was planned to construct a new Head Office to enhance the working environment for researchers by fostering a culture of communication and collaboration, transcending mere physical changes and creating vibrant spaces for future growth drivers. KOTITI consolidated and rearranged its business divisions, previously dispersed across 12 floors in the existing Seongnam Head Office, into six floors within the new Gwacheon Head Office. The design concept of KOTITI revolves around “THE LAB AURORA,” drawing inspiration from the dynamic beauty and wonder of the aurora as a symbol of future dreams. It incorporates the future-oriented motif of the diverse spectrum of KOTITI’s research into the design. KOTITI has approached with three strategies, which are a new icon of Gwacheon Knowledge Information Town, a creative research center emblematic of forward-thinking R&D architecture fostering active interdisciplinary thinking, and a future-oriented research institute capable of proactive adaptation to a diversified market. Moreover, it expresses the strong recognizability and cutting-edge image of KOTITI through subtle variations in vertical louvers reflecting a simple mass that appears as a single entity and the dynamic nature of an aurora. The exterior is designed with a double skin composed of curtain walls and aluminum vertical louvers. Landscape lighting attached to the louvers is intended to offer various visual displays and encompass all colors as time passes. Community spaces are installed on each floor, and open idea lounges are placed every two floors, providing various types of meeting spaces and relaxation areas. Additionally, high-spec audio facilities equipped with high-quality auditorium and big and medium-sized conference rooms are planned to enable education and facility rental. Through KOTITI’s new Head Office, KOTITI Aurora Square, it is expected to establish new growth momentum and become a new landmark within the Gwacheon Knowledge Information Town, marking the beginning of another leap forward.
