Introduction: Located at the intersection of Teheran-ro and Tacheon Stream, New Gangnam Police Station in Seoul has been transformed into a citizen-friendly spaces, escaping from the rigid and uncomfortable exterior atmosphere of existing police station.
The upper part of the police station is designed with granite façade having magnificent exterior appearance and the lower part with warm colored terracotta where the employees and users can feel friendly atmosphere.
Moreover, a public open space was created for people to relax on the front of the police station as well as a green space in the inner city was designed on the rooftop space of the lower floor.
In particular, easily accessible auditorium from the outdoor was planned for use as the cultural space for the residents of Gangnam-gu. And lastly, the building was built as an eco-friendly building that applied world class eco-design technology in order to reduce energy uses.
