- Introduction
- Sejong Chungnam University Hospital, proceeded through a turnkey project in 2016, achieved significant milestones in its development. By July 2020, the first phase of the comprehensive hospital was inaugurated, marking a crucial advancement. Following this, in April 2021, the second phase was completed, specifically focusing on the construction of a state-of-the-art health screening center. With these accomplishments, by May 2021, the visionary institution finalized its transformation into an innovative hospital of the future, boasting 500 beds and seamlessly integrating advanced medical facilities with natural surroundings. This remarkable journey showcases the remarkable evolution of Sejong Chungnam University Hospital into an architectural marvel that harmonizes cutting-edge medical infrastructure with the beauty of nature. Sejong Chungnam National University Hospital, reflecting Heerim's exceptional planning and design skills, incorporates the vision of Chungnam National University Hospital, which aims for medical innovation, into its architecture and seamlessly integrates the surrounding natural environment of parks and rivers into its architectural plan. Patient wards are arranged to offer views of nearby community parks and waterfront parks and the patient rooms and the façade design took into environmentally-friendly features such as natural lighting and ventilation crating a comfortable and soothing healing environment. The lower floors feature an atrium designed as "Hospital Street," maximizing natural light, and separating outpatient and central medical departments for easy navigation. Moreover, the facility includes specialized features and equipment for responding to infectious diseases, such as isolation wards with negative pressure rooms within the emergency room and intensive care units. Sejong Chungnam National University Hospital, the first comprehensive hospital in Sejong Metropolitan Autonomous City, has achieved the highest Barrier-Free (BF) rating for an obstacle-free living environment. It not only prioritizes patient and medical staff safety, as well as treatment efficiency, but also sets a new paradigm in hospital design by installing state-of-the-art isolation rooms for managing infectious diseases. This innovative approach has garnered significant attention and expectations from the industry.
