Design
- Introduction
- Heerim has won the invited design competition which was organized by Cheongju University with intention to create a new facade image and transform it into a new advanced digital while maintaining the original frame of the old central library. Heerim proposed a space with advanced system and new image implementation of the central library maintaining the existing frame based on design experiences of various education facilities and full understanding of history and ideal of Cheongju University learned from design experience of Multi-purpose gym of Cheongju University. Construction of the Central Library started since October 2015 with a total cost of 35 billion KRW and recently opened its door. The building has got 164 new computers in information search lounge on ground floor and installed a high-speed Wi-Fi suitable for the IT era. On the second floor, there are 8 group study rooms, a multi-media room, a cinema room to watch films and a reading room equipped 1,200,000 books with 2,870 seats. There are visits from other universities in order to benchmark library facilities and systems. Central library is open to public that sets a new concept of library becoming a landmark of the region for culture and meeting.
