- Introduction
- The City of Seoul and Gangdong district have made efforts to eliminate the odor coming from the detention pond in order to enhance residential amenities as well as enforce sustainable functions within the underground levels of manmade reservoir. The Complex Center of Gayang Reservoir consists of underground B1 to B3 levels and was publically announced for PQ selections. Public hearings also took place in 2011 to develop the design of Sports Center, Library and Cinema; however, due to funding issues, amendments were made to exclude the cinema portion from the Complex, resulting in a 20% reduction in total GFA. The project was the very first attempt by the official authorities to improve and embellish an unattended, unattractive loathe and convert it into a functional, user friendly complex through public involvements.
