Introduction
LG U+ Next Center, which its construction to be completed by third-quarter of 2023, is a second new hyperscale Internet Data Center(IDC) followed after Pyeongchon Mega center. It can operate approximately 100,000 servers with 40,450㎡ of GFA, B3F/9F. As Heerim completed about 1 year of design service after winning a nominated design competition on 2020 May, construction started at second-quarter of 2021. The best feature of the new center is its design that reflects client’s requests since its design phase as a customer tailored service. Through a new air conditioning system that directly provides cool air to server, and removing double floor, hotspots are minimized and the temperature of server room is controlled. Also various electric supply up to 20kW per lag according to specification of equipment required by customer is available with 154kV power receiving. In total of 5 level of security system is established and applied to the new data center, from the entrance of the center to the data processing room, and physical separation of office and data processing building enhanced security. Besides, to reduce energy consumption, air cooling system that decreases server heat with cold outdoor air is applied. Cooling load efficiency is improved through 6.9m high floor height, enhanced thermal performance of outer wall, and air duct that derives smooth circulation of hot air. Furthermore, it is designed to increase the use of renewable energy, utilizing geothermal heat for heating and cooling at office building, and reduce usage of electricity of IDC using photovoltaic system and fuel cell. With these environment friendly technologies, LG U+ Next Center will become the leading eco-friendly center of IDC’s ESG.
