Introduction
The development project of Forena Lu1 City began as a necessary urban redevelopment in the neglected downtown area of Gajeong-dong in Seo-gu, which had suffered due to the development projects in Cheongna International City, Yeongjong New City, and the housing public-private sectors. This initiative was triggered by the normalization of the Gyeongin Expressway and the planned construction of the Second Gyeongin Expressway, aiming to revitalize the downtown area. Moreover, there was an urgent need for surrounding development projects to overcome urban disconnect caused by the Gyeongin Expressway and to alleviate chronic traffic congestion at Seo Incheon Interchange (I.C.) and Gajeong Intersection. Through the comprehensive development of the Gajeong Intersection area, the plan was to create an international gateway city connecting Incheon International Airport and Seoul and take a leading role in revitalizing the downtown area. Forena Lu1 City is designed with the slogan 'A complex where the city, nature, and people communicate together,' employing three-dimensional pathways that harmonize greenery and architectural landscapes, community facilities between the city and its inhabitants. It was designed with an open concept to foster interaction among various communities and neighbors. The site makes effective use of the west-facing sloped terrain of Cheonma Mountain by planning comprehensive neighborhood living facilities, deck parking, and additional welfare facilities. Public walking paths are arranged within open spaces to create a 'desirable walking route' for residents and neighbors, leading towards the mountain. The school located to the south has been connected via pedestrian pathways, and the layout and facades have been designed considering the surroundings and skyline, with a specialized plan, aiming to make it a symbolic landmark complex in Incheon.
