Introduction
The former KT Shinsa office held a design competition in order to strengthen commercial function and attract leisure facilities in the city center considering the outstanding location of Apgujeong Station and the increase in domestic leisure demand. The design concept of competition - Lu (樓) is a fusion of the unique history of the Apgujeong name and the high-quality community culture of the top 1% of the Gangnam region. In addition, Andaz Seoul Gangnam is designed to enhance the image and symbolism of the hotel as the landmark of the area and make the best destination place for people to visit. In addition, in order to respond to th revitalization of Apgujeong Station area nd the surrounding commercial facilities, it was designed to provide comfortable environment to the users by considering diversified circulation and wayfinding through installation of existing subway stairs and elevators inside of the building. Such planning enhanced access to the underground retail shops at the same time. 'ANdAZ' means 'personal style' in Hindi and is the high-end lifestyle hotel brand of 'Hayatt' that provides a new and different experience to visitors by creatively recreating local culture. In addition, 'ANdAZ' will attract many young people with strong personality by providing high level of service along with guestroom interior designed by 'Piet Boon', a Dutch designer, who reinterpreted Korean colors into a contemporary design.
