- Introduction
- Vietnam-Korea Institute of Science & Technology (V-KIST) secured both open view toward the lake and iconic image of the main building through the V-shaped site plan layout symbolizing Vietnam. The cafeteria and observation deck linked to the southern lakeside promenade, are expected to contribute to the exchange, communication and creativity of researchers. Especially, all buildings including the research center and the main building were connected to the central deck to enhance the convenience of researchers using the facility and provide various community spaces. Moreover, Heerim focused on reducing solar radiation and creating a wind path for the entire site considering the high temperature and high humidity of the local climate as well as reflected the traditional elements of Vietnam that are familiar to citizens in the façade with the pattern of nature in motif of bamboo trees. In addition, the building is designed to become multifaceted eco-friendly building by applying indoor and rooftop greenery and using recycled materials. In particular, this project opened the door to overseas version development of "G-SEED". Heerim developed South Korea's first "G-SEED_V", which is Vietnamese version of "G-SEED (domestic environment-friendly certification) in cooperation with the Korea Institute of Construction Technology and acquired the preliminary certification of excellent grade. Along with this certificate, V-Kist is currently in the process of acquiring LOTUS Silver grade which is green building certification in Vietnam.
