- Introduction
- The DB Insurance Busan Headquarters, jointly designed by Heerim and Goettsch Partners (Chicago, USA), has been completed in Seomyeon, the heart of Busan, after approximately four years of construction. Design began in January 2020, and construction commenced in June 2022. Redefining the skyline of Seomyeon, the building is a prime office tower of 24 stories above ground and 8 stories below, with a maximum height of 119.5 meters and a gross floor area of 44,769m². While the DB Financial Center on Teheran-ro in Seoul represented DB Insurance’s commitment to becoming Korea’s leading insurance company, the Busan headquarters symbolizes a new challenge toward the global market and a full-fledged leap forward as a regional hub for Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam. The “Culture Net,” a diagonal bronze metal grid facade inspired by the fishing nets of Busan’s harbor, embodies “Safety and Trust,” the essence of insurance, and expresses the building’s distinctive identity. In addition, the sunken garden, which naturally connects to the surrounding urban streets, and the open plaza on the second basement level, directly linked to Seomyeon subway station, create open spaces that engage with the local community. The building has obtained LEED certification, a globally recognized green building rating system, by adopting eco-friendly indoor and outdoor design methods that significantly reduce carbon emissions. Equipped with state-of-the-art intelligent systems and smart space control technologies, the DB Insurance Busan Headquarters is expected to serve as a sustainable, world-class business hub for both the city and people, and to become a new landmark leading the future of Busan.
