- Introduction
- The original Yeouido Post Office was established in 1975. During few decades, Yeouido area has been evolved into a financial district, and a prime office development project was conducted to respond to the new environment and to create profit for the Ministry of Information and Communication and Korea Post. Yeouido Post Office is the tallest building in Yeouinaru-ro, with 33 floors and 156.8m above the ground with the design motif of "Collecting the Light of Yeouido to Make a New Focus." The highly recognizable vertical curtain wall becomes a light pillar, and a 360° panoramic view of the Han River, Saetgang Ecological Park, and Bukhansan Mountain can be enjoyed on the upper floors. Sustainable design elements are applied including the facade module's vertical and horizontal shading system for energy saving. To improve the business feasibility, the volume of upper floors (over the 24th floor) is extended to secure the maximum space; and the post office at the ground floor is forwarded towards the pedestrian street for better accessibility and recognition. The building is expected to become an iconic symbol that represents Yeouido's financial district with a differentiated design that implies the social and historical characteristics of a post office.
