- Introduction
- Wuxi Foreign Language Primary School was founded by SK Hynix Semiconductor (China) with the goals of “Pursuit of happiness, contribution to the community, and talent cultivation” along with the educational objectives of 4C (Critical Thinking, Creativity, Communication, and Collaboration). Heerim has planned a primary school that also aims to realize the mega trends of the global education industry and Chinese education trends in a feasible way, and to create a primary school where students can “learn, play, communicate, and SK” together. The main concepts of school are “Spine” and “Happiness Village.” The “Spine” inspired from the central axis that supports the human body was reinterpreted as a school space reflecting an inclusive circulation space that encompasses the entire school. The image of “Happiness Village” is applied to architectural mass and facade, and created various outdoor spaces to plan a friendly school image and educational space that align the children’s perspectives and their eye level. The central space, strategically designed to enhance visual cognition and the efficiency of educational spaces, connects all areas, ensuring both functional independence and interconnectivity. The environmentally-friendly atrium, serving as both a central interaction space and an open library, provides natural lighting and a sense of openness where It is connected to the classrooms on the north and south sides through a bridge. Moreover, not only the underground swimming pool and gymnasium, but also the climbing wall installed in the atrium through utilizing open space of 4 floors enables children to enjoy various indoor activities. SK Hynix Wuxi Foreign Language Primary School, which opened in 2021, is jointly established and operated with Chinese “Xiehe Education Group”, and is marking its mark as a central school that is attracting attention in the community as a high-end international school.
