Bata International Airport New Passenger Terminal
Design
- Introduction
- After being recognized for its design and architectural capabilities following the compeltion of the Mongomeyen International Airport in Equatorial Guinea, Heerim, in collaboration with Ssangyong E&C, signed the contract for the design development and construction documentation phase of the passenger terminal of Bata International Airport. The project was commissioned by the Equatorial Guinea government, and Ssangyong E&C won the design & build bidding, with Heerim participating as the design firm. Bata is currently the largest city on the mainland of Equatorial Guinea, situated along the western coastline. With the growth of the city, particularly spurred by hosting the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, passenger demand has increased, leading to the current congestion of Bata Airport's passenger terminal. Heerim's proposed new passenger terminal draws inspiration from the national emblem of Equatorial Guinea, the six-pointed star, incorporating this concept into pillars, structures, interiors, and more. The terminal is planned with a convenient circulation system, efficient passenger processing, and optimized spaces. With three above-ground floors, one underground floor, and a total floor area of 35,315 square meters, the terminal is designed to accommodate 2 million passengers annually. The completion goal for this project is set for the year 2023.
