“Development project of school building integrated photovoltaic products & fusion system” is a national R&D project supervised by Korea Conformity Laboratories(KCL) to upgrade its retarded façade design of school buildings and generate electronic energy(approx. 20kW) by installing colored photovoltaic panel on existing elevation of school building.

As a participating institution, Heerim has conducted remodeling design of elevation of Wolgye middle school in Nowon-gu which has been chosen as the first demonstration project target.

Wolgye middle school has been in use for 40 years since its establishment, and the buildings were deteriorated seriously. Heerim suggested various design alternatives that utilizes colored photovoltaic preserving the original shape of the building at the same time.Considering the uniqueness of school buildings, Heerim implemented elevation shape and color studies, and delivered the final elevation design through discussions and preference inquiries among Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, and students, parents, and teachers involved in the school.Selected design concept of elevation is “Variety Stories” that embodied people’s wish for the school to embrace diverse stories of students such as dreams and hopes through refreshing and bright colors and regular patterns in elevation.
