Design
Introduction
Vietnam-Korea Institute of Science & Technology (V-KIST) in the V-shaped site plan layout symbolizing Vietnam enabled to secure wide-opened lake view, and iconic image of the main building. Cafeteria and observatory platform connected to the lake at south side is prepared to help researchers boost their creativity, communication and consilience. Moreover, all buildings such as research building and main building are connected to the central deck to enhance convenient usage for researchers, and various amenity facilities are provided. Building layout and the massing design focused on solar radiation control and wind path throughout the site considering high temperature and humidity of local climate. Heerim reflected the traditional elements of Vietnam that are familiar to citizens throughout the building in places, too. In particular, the building facade embodied the pattern of nature in motif of bamboo trees. Besides, Heerim planned multiple design strategies such as green interior spaces and green roof, recycled material utilization for eco-friendly architecture.
