- Introduction
- Techo International Airport is a greenfield airport for the capital city of Cambodia, Phnom Penh. The new airport site is located in approximately 20km to the south of Phnom Penh. Techo International Airport is 4F class international airport with four floor/one basement and 20 gates, capable of accommodating 15 million passengers and approximately 175,000 tons of cargo annually. According to the Client, Cambodia Airport Investment Co., Ltd (CAIC), the Phase 1 construction is 84% complete as of August 2024, and it is expected to be fully operational by the first half of 2025. The ultimate goal is to create a greenfield airport with three parallel runways and amenity facilities covering a total area of 2,600 hectares. Upon completion of all three phases of development, the airport will be able to accommodate up to 50 million passengers. The passenger terminal was designed by the British architectural firm Foster + Partners, and the control tower was designed by Heerim. In addition, as of September 2024, Heerim has about 100 staff and experts engaged in the Project Management. The initial contract was signed in October 2019 and on July 2023, additional PMC(Project Management Consultant) service was contracted. Then, on August 16, a second extension of the PMCservice contract was signed. Then on September 8th 2024, a test flight event was held to commemorate the completion of the runway with key figures in attendance, Including Excellency, Dr. Mao Havannall of SSCA, Chairman Lok Neak Oknha Dr. Pung Kheav Se of OCIC Group, and Chairman Jeong Young Kyoon of Heerim Architects & Planners.
