Design
- Introduction
- The project site, situated at the southwest corner of the Daejeon Government Complex, is adjacent to residential neighborhoods and commercial areas. Currently a lush, green park, the site was envisioned as a continuous public green space seamlessly integrated into the everyday lives of citizens. The design concept originated from the meaning of Dunsan-dong and its topography, the foot of a mountain, traditionally a gathering place. This led to the creation of a dynamic, multi-level low-rise section complemented by expansive landscaped areas. Just as communities gather beneath a giant tree, the tower's design is inspired by a towering tree, symbolizing unity. These elements harmoniously blend to complete the striking new appearance of the complex government building. The design proposal incorporates practical solutions for easy maintenance, an inviting open low-rise area with a multi-level landscape, a central courtyard that offers easy access to common facilities, and a community lounge that brings together all eight agencies. Through this integrated approach, the project aims to promote collaboration among institutions and strengthen the government complex’s public character. We hope that 'Rest HILL,' a hill where people naturally gather, will become a new standard for complex government buildings and ensure its sustainability.
