Seoul Science Center was built in the city park of Mountain Bulam to create a new scientific education base in the Gangbuk area in Seoul by promoting balanced land development and understanding of basic science. The image of an infinite cycle that unites people, nature and science, is embodied in the form of space and mass. And maximizes the architectural sense of space by connecting the dynamic circulation to the exhibition space that continues around central atrium. The green roof, the green building, the green community were established as the main design elements in harmony with the urban nature park of Mount Bulam, where the science center is located. The green park on the north side of the site is connected to the green loop of the building to form a continuous green axis. It was built as an ecological green building using renewable energy sources such as sunlight and geothermal energy. In addition, the flow of the front plaza was naturally directed to the northern natural environment that creates a gree community space for education and rest. Seoul Science Center was designed to be well acquainted with citizens by planning the circulation of exhibition not only for the indoor space but linking with the outdoor space and trail around the site. In the future, it is expected to actively utilize citizens and establish a space for children and young people to develop dreams and hopes for science.
