The architecture of Postpendemic Era: A Study on the corresponding method by Remodeling Architectural Research Institute
The Pandemic is expected to cause an even greater effect on society in the 21st-century world under globalization and technical improvement. Governments are promoting the 'Social Distance' campaign, minimizing communications in the daily lives and extending the range of "Untact Economies" in education, health care, business, media, and the consumer economy. Heerim would like to suggest the following measures to overcome the Pandemic era through the remodeling of the Architectural Research Institute.
Five architectural design elements can be considered as countermeasures to the Pandemic: The first keyword is hygiene control. Separating the circulation and planning vestibules for even more segmented routes will help the hygiene control of the building. The second element is the application of automized systems. Future technologies including thermal imaging cameras, automatic doors, and elevators that can decide the destination based on the big data need to be commercialized as soon as possible. The third topic is the management of the indoor environment. An anti-virus ventilation system to prevent virus infections will be essential considering most of the virus infections occur in indoor spaces. The fourth is the selection of materials. The importance of eco-friendly building materials with bacteriocidal function is growing as constantly. Last but not least, flexibility. In the untact society, the flexibility of the architectural plan will be considered from the design stage to enable the utilization of multi-functional spaces. Aside from the above, the importance of open spaces such as the courtyard and balcony will be significant. Wider corridors and appropriately subdivided plans will be developed, and cities will be also transferred to smart cities by introducing ICT (Information Communication Technology (ICT).
